January focus – health

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog and the first post of 2020.  I can’t believe that we are nearly at the end of the first month of a new decade!

I wanted to start off this year by including a post about what I have been focusing on so far this month.  I decided towards the end of last year (particularly in light of the festive season), that I would have a ‘dry’ month (i.e. no alcohol) for the month of January.  I have participated in dry months before, spread over recent years, and I think it is a good thing to do every now and again. For me, this dry month represents pressing the reset button.

I have certainly found this approach to be most beneficial.  I have certainly noticed the improved sleep and I’m a big fan of at least 7 hours a night, 8 if possible!

The other great thing is that it is possible to go out to a local pub and find non-alcoholic options.  Sure in some places it is limited, but it is certainly do-able.

The other thing that my husband and I have been doing quite regularly (on weekends), that we started over the Christmas period, have been some long country walks.  Sometimes we have been caught out in the rain (but we were kind of prepared, so it wasn’t too bad).

Although I picked a focus word for 2019, this is not something that I have opted for this year.  I have certain ideas/ goals that I hope to achieve and for now, I am leaving it at that.

How has your January been?  What are you looking forward to in 2020?
